he sends her purple hyacinths, a flower which represents forgiveness, because sorry sometimes doesn't cut it, and neither does sleeping on the couch for another night.

She tried —– she tried her damn hardest to not cave too much on having the bed all to herself. She tried her damn hardest to at least be disappointed ( and not mad ) at him a little longer, which was arguably worst than being angry. She tried to wait and see if Robert had the balls to apologize;; she tried to not make her heart clench at the absence their pride was so clearly making between them

She tried, entering the kitchen to make some semblance of a breakfast for the both of them this morning. All only to find purple flowers sitting on the counter, wrapped in newspaper —–clearly the handiwork of someone who was also trying.

She tucked her hair behind her ear and breathed a sigh she never knew she was holding in. They weren’t the kind of family who had something healthy for breakfast and had freshly picked flowers sitting in a vase by the table…but she tries.

She doesn’t mention the flowers to Bobby, but she welcomes him for bacon and eggs. Conversation ensues;; they’re okay.
